Eric Francisco (March 9, 2024). "Rooster Teeth Was Too Good For the Internet — Until It Wasn't". Inverse. Retrieved March 11, 2024. Arguably Rooster Teeth's gravest sin was that it was made up of young adults figuring out, in public view, what a proper work environment looks like. Internal problems at the company are legendary; just see its Wikipedia page, with its accusations of toxic environments, sexual harassment, and racism.
given the press release and podcast Burnie has gotten the whole brand and most IP's directly related to RT, given this what happens to this page? should we talk about the renewed shows? the new film? or should a different page be drafted given this is specifically the company?
Personally I would wait for more information to come out, especially from secondary sources, before considering a new article. I suppose a "Legacy" sub-section containing new developments could be added to this article for now, and then moved over when the new one is created. Which would be factually inaccurate. As I have explained previously via edit summaries, read the cited press release or listen to the relevant podcast in the same link for clarification. Rooster Teeth as a company (the topic of this article) is closed for good. The Rooster Teeth brand itself and various IPs attached to it is being brought back under the new company Box Canyon Productions. Cheezknight (talk) 07:40, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
the present tense should not be brought back for the company, for the productions section perhaps some of the shows in there if they come back, but the company is dead still. I do not believe the Burnie Burns page is the place for whatever come out of this purchase and at this time no Box Canyon Productions page exists and i agree with @Cheezknight that it shouldn't be made just yet, my point here is that as RT the company no longer operates we cannot change tense, but then RT the brand is the important thing here so should the new owners of the brand mean we add sections in present tense?
I agree that it is an important distinction. I can see the benefit of highlighting the continuation of specific projects/ IPs when that information is made available, as long as its clarified to be under the new company. But for new projects I would keep at a bare minimum. I also wouldn't be surprised if "Box Canyon productions" ends up using "Rooster Teeth" as a trade name once they start releasing content. Cheezknight (talk) 13:22, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize, I misunderstood the situation, but if this new RT continues, I am confused how this page will be handled. I do still think that this page should but updated to the present tense if it does, or a new article be created for the revival of the brand. JungleEntity (talk) 03:04, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This article is for the now defunct company, so not a lot will change unless its citing the revival of specific old projects under the new company, which is what the "Legacy" sub-section is for.
A new article will likely be created for Box Canyon Productions in the future (whether that's under the RT brand name or not will depend on if the company uses RT as a trading name) and new developments would be added there. Right now with very little information available, the company having no employees outside of Burns and his wife and only two new productions having been briefly mentioned, its better to wait for more info to be released before drafting an article. Cheezknight (talk) 03:43, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We now have a couple of articles by Variety and Deadline that confirm the sale of the IP but basically offer no new info from what we've heard on Burnie's podcast. (The Deadline article even states that Box Canyon declined to answer an inquiry of them). Both of them do mention the word "Brand" instead of Company. Our best bet is to wait until the AMA Podcast they'll do this weekend to see how this "new" RT will operate and what assets are part of it. Hyperba21 (talk) 16:11, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
